So This Baby Wants To Come Out Huh?!

Welp what goes up must come down and apparently what goes in must come out lol or maybe that's just in the case of having a human growing inside of you. Pregnancy was an amazing journey for me personally. Now don't get it twisted, my pregnancy was far from perfect. I was high risk and my first trimester was long and trying but I wouldn't trade the process for the world because it brought me the most perfect gift I could've ever received. Miss Paisley.

On a Friday at 35 weeks and 2 days I woke up at 5:30am to get ready for work. As soon as I slid off my bed a big gush of water started running down my legs. Now me being a first-time mother I thought (well really, I convinced myself ha-ha) that I'd pee'd on myself. I went and got in the tub or at least tried to. As soon as I swung my leg over to get in the tub my water broke again and at this time, I was in denial still. I stayed in denial until the contractions started hitting. When i finally stood up out the tub again my last gush of water came down legs and my mind said "Patrice, sweetie you’re in labor." I completely freaked out. I wasn't close enough to my due date and I hadn't even packed my bag (I was going to do it after my baby shower THAT weekend). I called the labor and delivery line of my doctor's office which I’d like to go on record saying was a complete waste of time since I was on the phone for almost an hour while having contractions and yes of course I needed to get to the hospital. I started freaking out and calling my child's father, but he wasn't answering. So, I called cousin who was at work in Duluth and my friend who lived down the street and told them I was in labor. I told my cousin I needed her to meet me at the hospital and I asked my friend to take me to the hospital.

When I tell you I’ve never seen someone get to my house so fast my friend had to have been on two wheels and for that I will forever be thankful. Let me tell you though trying to get down the steps while having contractions was difficult, but I didn't have a choice, I had to let her in so we could get to the hospital. She got in the house and started freaking out herself. Now she's also a mother so I thought she was going to be calm, but she kept me laughing the entire way there. Guys let me tell you my friend was FLYING at super speed because she thought I was going to have a baby in her car. I had to calm her down by telling her "we gone make it girlie, I promised that I was not going to have a baby in her car" as I kept having contractions. We laughed and made jokes while trying to look for a cop that could escort us to the hospital. Of course, you know they're never around when you'd like for them to be. But we made it to the labor and delivery women's center at Northside safe with baby still inside.

We made it yall! Stay tuned for part two of my birth story... And while we wait chime in and tell me a little about how your labor started and how it was for you personally or you and your spouse. I look forward to hearing from you.  Follow/Subscribe/Comment
